BENEFITS OF OUR EQUINE ALLERGY TESTING

  • Highly Accurate and Quantitative Results: The PAX test provides veterinarians with a reliable quantitative molecular allergy result, ensuring precision in identifying sensitisations. This accuracy makes it easier to formulate tailored allergy vaccines and leads to improved treatment outcomes, particularly for patients undergoing immunotherapy.
  • Limited to True Sensitisations: By eliminating false positives, the PAX test streamlines treatment, limiting it to true sensitisations, enhancing its efficacy and safety.
  • State-of-the-Art Molecular Allergology: This testing method is a significant leap forward in the field of molecular allergology, enabling the precise identification of allergen cross-reactivities and delivering better risk assessment and therapy decisions.
  • Streamlined Process: The PAX test is fully automated, providing a higher level of standardisation, which is essential for accurate and reproducible results.
  • Versatile and Comprehensive: With over 200 allergen extracts and molecular components included, the PAX test offers a comprehensive range of testing options, ensuring a precise diagnosis for each horse.

EQUINE PAX SERUM TEST

The Nextmune PAX Serum Test for horses is a comprehensive diagnostic tool that covers a wide range of allergens, including environmental, insect, and food allergens.

Equine Environmental Panel

By measuring allergen-specific IgE antibodies in the serum, the PAX test identifies environmental allergens that can aid in allergen avoidance and guide the selection of allergens for allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT). This test includes allergens from the following categories:

  • Grasses
  • Weeds and crops
  • Trees and shrubs
  • Mites
  • Dander
  • Moulds

Equine Insect Panel

The PAX test also helps identify insect allergens specific to horses, facilitating necessary management changes and the selection of allergens for ASIT. Reasons to use serological allergy testing for insect bite hypersensitivity:

  • Enables specific management and therapeutic options
  • Identifies potential hypersensitivities to various biting insects and environmental allergens
  • Different biting insects are active during different times of the year and day. The PAX Insect test includes allergens such as:
  • Black fly
  • Culicoides
  • Horse fly
  • House fly
  • Mosquito
  • Stable Fly

Equine Food Panel

Diagnosing food allergies in horses involves conducting a diet trial. The PAX food test assists in identifying suitable foods for an elimination diet trial. How the equine food test helps:

  • Measures allergen-specific IgG and IgE antibodies against food allergens
  • Aids in the selection of foods suitable for an elimination diet trial
  • Presents results in a clear visual format, facilitating owner understanding and compliance. The PAX Food test includes allergens from the following groups:
  • Cereals
  • Vegetables

PAX Screens

Allergy Screening with PAX Serum Test

The Nextmune PAX Serum Test offers allergy screening for both food and environmental panels and provides results as either positive or negative. Upon request, these screens can be expanded for more detailed insights.

Why Choose Allergy Screening with PAX?

The PAX serum test utilises state-of-the-art technology to offer cost-effective allergy screening. Using the same technology the results will indicate a single positive or negative result for each mixed allergen panel. If further investigation is desired, you can expand any allergen panel that shows a positive result to obtain individual allergen-specific outcomes.

Economic Allergen Investigation with PAX

This allergy screening is an economical and efficient approach to identify potential allergens in horses. Expanding panels with positive results provides a comprehensive understanding of the horse’s allergies. This expanded insight serves as an excellent precursor to allergen-specific immunotherapy and targeted allergen avoidance strategies.

WHAT EQUINE ALLERGY TESTS DOES Nextmune Laboratories UK OFFER?

Nextlab Complete Environmental, Insect & Food

This test includes the equine environmental panel, the insect panel, and the food panel.

Equine environmental test

By measuring allergen-specific IgE antibodies present in the serum, the Nextlab™ environmental test can help to identify environmental allergens for both allergen avoidance purposes and to select for inclusion in allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT).

Why use serological allergy testing?

Serological testing enables you to provide additional management and therapeutic options (such as ASIT) for allergy cases. Only by identifying relevant allergens are you able to offer all long-term solutions as part of an effective management programme for this life-long condition.

The Nextlab™ Environmental test contains allergens from the following groups:

  • Grasses
  • Weeds and crops
  • Trees and shrubs
  • Mites
  • Dander
  • Moulds

Equine insect test

By measuring allergen specific IgE antibodies present in the serum, this equine-specific test can help to identify insect allergens to enable both management changes to take place, and for inclusion in allergen specific immunotherapy (ASIT).

Why use serological allergy testing for insect bite hypersensitivities?

  • Identifying hypersensitivities through testing enables specific management and therapeutic options
  • Culicoides hypersensitivity often exists in combination with a hypersensitivity to other biting insects and other environmental allergens
  • Different biting insects are active in different months of the year and at different times of the day

The Nextlab™ Insect test contains the following allergens:

  • Black fly
  • Culicoides
  • Horse fly
  • House fly
  • Mosquito
  • Stable Fly

Food test

The only way to diagnose a food allergy is by conducting a diet trial. Using the Nextlab™ food test can help identify which foods are the most appropriate to use for the diet trial.

How does the equine food test help?

The Nextlab™ food test measures allergen-specific IgG and IgE antibodies against food allergens, and is designed to assist in the selection of foods that are suitable for an elimination diet trial. The results of the test are printed in a clear visual format to help with owner understanding and engagement; in turn, helping to promote stricter compliance.

The Nextlab food test contains allergens from the following groups:

  • Cereals
  • Vegetables

Additional resources to support you and your clients when conducting a diet trial can be found in the ‘Resources’ section of the Practice Portal.

Nextlab Screens

Screens are available for both food and environmental panels, and offer a positive or negative result only. Screens can be expanded on request.

Allergy screening

Nextlab™ screens provide a cost-effective solution if you suspect allergic disease. Using the same ELISA based technology as our other allergy tests, the results will show you either a single positive or a negative result to each mixed allergen panel. You can then investigate further if desired, by expanding any positive allergen panel to gain individual allergen results.

This allergy screening provides an economic method for allergen investigation identification and, following expansion of any panels with positive results, is an excellent precursor to allergen-specific immunotherapy and targeted allergen avoidance.
